Vom Newsreader Newsbin Pro ist Version 6.30 Beta 4 erschienen und steht zum Download bereit. Es gab folgende Änderungen:

- Growl support for notifying on certain events.

- Fixes to resolve memory problems on 32 bit systems
- Ctrl-Y to force a download now bypasses spam filters too (Add to Download List - Bypass Filters)
- New authentication scheme for Remote Control Interface so you don't have to enter your Newsbin key anymore (which is a pain on an iPhone).
- Expanded Unicode (UTF-8) support for folder names and throughout program.
Version 6.30 Beta 4 Build 1747, January 26, 2012
- New Feature: Notification re-done. Email and Growl support. Must have a Growl server installed on a machine reachable by an IP address. Tested on Windows and OSX so far.
- Made changes so that adding a ton of posts to a custom list wouldn't take as much RAM. Custom list generation should be 10 times faster for large posts counts.
- Fixed issue where canceling the "custom list select" dialog was hanging Newsbin
- When adding to new custom list, the focus wasn't going to the edit.
- NZB load filter now acts as a filter profile for NZB files loaded to the post list.
- Fixed issue where gridlines weren't showing in the Search tab on 64 bit versions. Also fixed issue where Internet Search mode wasn't showing by default.
- Fixed issue when purging to display age, wasn't showing progress bar progress
- Fixed issue when compacting databases, it was not showing the total space saved.
- Fixed issue with files DB not handling unicode filenames properly. Files on the files list wouldn't be reloaded into the list if the filename or path were unicode.
- Fixed issue where ctrl-R would not save to proper data folder if the folder has unicode chars in it.
- Setting for "Age" in the filter profile wasn't saving properly.
- Performance improvement for the groups tab. It was pretty slow getting the counts.
- Fix for group display problem introduced in B3
- Fix for non-ASCII subjects not showing up from search.
- Now reports in the status line when waiting for a retry to occur.
- If the user enters a.b.
expand it to alt.Binaries .before sending to search server. - Implemented additional Bandwidth usage stats over the newsbin remote control interface.
- Added secondary authentication method to remote control interface so only a password is required and not the Newsbin key.
- Fixed remote password bug introduced in B3.
- Now with autopar disabled, the PARS can be directed to download or to go to the wish list.
- When Autopar is disabled the options "ScratchPars" determines where the pars go. By default, they go to the download.
- Changes to help maintain integrity of the autopar2.db3 file.
- If a repair fails, now renames the files back to the original filenames.
